Navjot was going to school with her friend after taking her morning tuition, but having forgotten some books at her tutor's house she went back to get them.

When she was on her way to the school from tutor's house, two boys on a motorcycle stopped her and one of the two rubbed his acid-soaked hands on her face.

The girl did not realise that the boy had dabbed acid on her face but soon her cheeks started itching and she rushed back to her tutor's house to wash her face.

Red marks appeared on her face and she was immediately taken to a private hospital in Raikot.

Giving details, Jagraon SSP Ashish Chaudhary said, "I visited the girl in the hospital on Wednesday morning. She is stable as she received superficial burns on her cheeks. The girl revealed that one of the two boys poured something on his hands and rubbed it on her cheeks. The doctors treating the girl stated that the acid used was very mild and the burn injuries were not serious."

However, the girl has refused to identify the boys stating that she did not know them. However, she confirmed that the duo had followed her often in the recent past.

Based upon the description of the boys given by Navjot, the police have rounded up some local boys.

The SSP said they had released the sketches of the boys based upon the description given by the girl. "We have registered a case under section 307 and 363A and will soon nab the culprits," the SSP added.
