City Bus Service mgmt suspends 135 conductors for not joining duty

The City Bus Service management suspended 135 conductors after they failed to not come back to their duty on Thursday. These conductors, who were on strike for the past six days, had promised the management on Wednesday that they will come to work from Thursday. But, they again staged protest demanding written assurance from the authorities to consider their demands within 15 days.


City Bus Service manager Baljeet Singh confirmed that 135 conductors, who were on strike have been suspended. Singh said, “We have asked the company concerned to provide replacement for these conductors.

The conductors were given warning, but they did not return to work due to which many of the buses were not running. We have demanded new recruitments within a week. We hope that all buses will be running with in next ten days.”

Only 4-5 buses would run on roads as usual with the help of checkers, Singh added.

It is pertinent to mention here that these conductors of the City Bus Service were opposing the installation of new software for computerised ticket machines by the MC.

Earlier, during day the staff members said, “The general manger accused us of causing a loss of `1 lakh the City Bus Service daily to due to theft. But these allegations were baseless.”

The members had also demanded inquiry into the contract given to a company- Prasanna Purple Mobility Solutions Pvt Ltd- which maintains and operates these buses. They accused that this company was the reason behind losses to the City Bus Service.
