City colleges start admission process

With the announcement of Class 12 results on May 11 by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), the some of the colleges in Ludhiana have commenced admissions process for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in their respective colleges.

According to information, at Government College for Girls, the prospectus will be available from June 10 onwards between 9 am to 2 pm. The prospectus is priced at `40.

Talking to Hindustan Times, college principal Gurminder Kaur, said, "We are receiving several queries from students regarding admissions in undergraduate and postgraduate courses and the information is available on our website gcgldh.org  and on the college notice board."
 
"The admissions for Class 11, science stream, will be held after the declaration of Class 10 results and all the information is available on our website," she said, adding that the college was also planning to start MSc IT, MCom and Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer Application courses for which, the college had already sent the application for Panjab University. 

The college offers Classes 11 and 12, medical and non-medical, under self-financing scheme; UG courses- BA, BSc, medical and non-medical, BCom, BCA, under self-financing scheme; PG courses- MA, fine arts, Punjabi and music instrumental, and diploma courses-PG diploma in nutrition and dietetics and add-on computer based accounting courses and journalism.

At SCD Government College, the prospectus and admission forms will be available from June 5 at `40. Rajinder Singh, principal of the college, said, "We are also starting the community college courses from the new academic session and are waiting for the approval from the PU. We have already received funds from University Grants Commission (UGC) to start these courses," he said, adding that SCD College was the only college in Ludhiana that offers these courses.

Under this project, Singh said, eight new courses will be introduced, including health care, stock exchange, software management and mobile communication.

RC Tejpal, principal, Arya College, said, "The prospectus with admission forms will be available at our college from June 10 that is priced at `300."

The other private college in Ludhiana will announce the date of admissions after the senate meeting at PU on May 25 in which, the issues related to the fee structure would be discussed.
