The members alleged that they had not been getting salary for the past three months.

Union president Surjit Singh said, “We had staged a protest on February 13, following which the civil surgeon assured us of releasing salaries by February 20.”

He added, “However, all employees did not get their salaries. Therefore, we staged a protest again.”

Meanwhile, civil surgeon Dr Subash Batta told the union members that the matter of non-payment of salaries had been communicated to higher authorities at Chandigarh, and soon the salaries would be released.

Union chairman Jagdev Singh said if they did not get the salaries soon, the next schedule of protest would be announced on Saturday.
