Class-12 student killed, two hurt in road accident

A Class-12 student of Pioneer School here was killed and two other students were injured when the motorcycle they were travelling on collided with a truck on the Malerkotla-Khanna road on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Amarpal Singh, 19, of Singala village. The two injured, Lovpreet and Sandeep, were admitted to the Malerkotla civil hospital and were said to be out of danger.

Inspector Sukhdeep Singh said, “The incident took place on Wednesday morning and Amarpal died on the spot.”

The truck driver was at the accident spot and helped take the students to the hospital, the inspector said. Investigations were going on in the incident and he said the truck driver’s statement had been recorded.

The body was handed over to the family after the postmortem.
