'CM assures to discuss demands of Dalits'

During a meeting with representatives of the Dalit Adhikar Bachao Morcha at Bachat Bhawan on Thursday, deputy commissioner Rahul Tiwari informed them that Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal had assured that they would discuss their demands after the budget session of the Punjab Assembly.


Following the budget session, representatives of the morcha would be invited to Chandigarh to hold discussion on their demands, the DC told them.

The DC told them that he was informed by the chief minister's office (CMO) that representatives of the morcha would be invited for a meeting with the CM soon.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the morcha submitted a memorandum containing11 demands to additional deputy commissioner Neeru Katyal Gupta that would be forwarded to the chief minister office.

The representatives said that their demand included reservation of seats according to the population of Punjab, construction of Ambedkar Bhawan at Ludhiana, regularisation of the services of safai kaamcharis.
