Cong leaders hail Bajwa's appointment

Congress leaders in Ludhiana hailed the decision of appointing Pratap Singh Bajwa as the chief of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee here on Thursday.


Various Congress leaders along with workers gathered at the Congress office near Clock Tower and distributed sweets.

Pawan Dewan, who is the district president (urban) of Congress, said the decision has been welcomed by everyone in the party.

He said Bajwa would take Congress to new heights in Punjab and would ensure victory of the party in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

He along with block presidents also congratulated Bajwa and said the leader was one of its kind and has the ability and capabilities to expose the “corrupt activities” of the SAD-BJP government in state.

Meanwhile, KK Bawa a senior Congress leader of the district went to New Delhi to meet Bajwa and congratulate him. “I met Bajwa and ensured him that all workers of the party would support him in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in 2014,” Bawa said.

Bawa met Bajwa along with Youth Congress leaders.

Two more dengue cases spring up

Two more dengue cases were confirmed in the city on Thursday. One 25-year-old woman from Bhora village, Jalandhar Bypass, and a 30-year-old man from BRS Nagar were tested positive for dengue. Both patients are undergoing treatment at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.
