What's the maximum you have spent on a bottle of liquor? If the answer is a few tens of thousands, you might have entered the world of premium liquors. But will you shell out Rs. 4 lakh for a bottle? The real connoisseur might, for a liquor house in Ludhiana has brought to the state a limited edition scotch that costs just the same!

This rare top-shelf scotch will surely impress the most discerning of your guests. Coming from what is considered as the oldest scotch brands, a bottle of 'John Walker' has been imported by Nesh Wines of Ludhiana, located in BRS Nagar. This exceptional rare blend comes from nine hand-selected unique casks, including precious liquid from Glen Albyn and Cambus distilleries. It has been matured in a 100-year-old wooden cask, reserved for special whiskies of this intense flavour, character and depth.

Only 330 such bottles, 750 ml each, are available worldwide. The exotic liquor comes with an equally exotic package, presented in a unique, individually numbered Baccarat crystal decanter and stopper.

"The stopper is hand blown, polished and engraved by one of the only three master-craftsmen in the world," claims Nesh Wines owner Livtar Bajaj, 25.

The decanter is finished with a 24-carat gold-plated neck collar. The handcrafted lacquer cabinet is claimed to have taken 60 hours of workmanship and 11 layers of lacquer, and is lined with a luxurious cream leather.

"This liquor takes you back to the 19th century, blending in John Walker's original style," says Livtar. "We are targeting a niche market, the ones who desire the priceless peg. We plan to bring in more of this liquor if the response is good," says Livtar, adding that not more than 10 such bottles are available in India.

The 30-year-old liquor house, with a second branch in Jalandhar, earlier sold Glenfiddich 30-year-old rare scotch, priced at Rs. 60,000 for 750 ml.
