Farmers' issues taken up at Ludhiana district delegates' conference.

Ludhiana district delegates' conference of Kirti Kisan Sabha, Punjab, was organised at Bagli Khurd village, in Samrala tehsil. The conference was presided over under the presidium comprising Azad Singh Khatra, Sukhdev Singh and advocate Jang Singh on Sunday.
 
Prem Singh Bhangu president of Kirti Kisan Sabha Punjab unfurled the flag of Kirti Kisan Sabha and paid tributes to the martyrs of kisan agitations. Condolence resolution was passed in memory of Comrade Jagjit Singh Lyallpuri, a veteran leader of kisan movement.

Comrade Kuldip Singh inaugurated the conference and gave a brief history of kisan movement in state and gave a call to the delegates to strengthen the organisation.

Comrade Lakhwinder Singh Bowani state general secretary of Kirti Kisan Sabha presented a report on the activities of the organisation highlighting the struggles undertaken on the issues of farmers in the district and state. The report also gave a brief reference to the international and national situation along with that of Punjab.

More than 100 elected delegates from different villages took part in the conference and raised issues concerning farmers and took up problems being faced by them. Eight delegates took part in the discussion on the report and Comrade Lakhwinder Singh Bowani replied to the questions raised during the discussions. The report was unanimously passed.

The resolution, demanding increase in minimum support prices of crops according to Swaminathan Commission recommendations, waiving farmers' loans, against forcible land acquisition of farmers' land, for enhancement of subsidies for agriculture sector, for more capital investment in agriculture sector, for provision of cheap credit to farmers by banks, for crop insurance by the government, for more facilities to agricultural workers as loan at 4% land, for construction of houses, free education to children and job guarantee among other resolutions were also passed.

The delegate conference elected a new team of office bearers for the district comprising Comrade Jangh Singh as president and Sukhdev Singh as secretary. A 13-member district committee was also elected, including Lakhwinder Singh Bowani, Ekam Singh, Azad Singh Khatra, Amarjit Singh Faizgarh, Surinder Shezad among others.
