A fire broke out at an office at Chaura Bazar here on Sunday. The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, though the fire department suspects it to be a shot circuit.
The office was closed when the fire broke out, and no casualty has been reported. The fire department was informed about smoke emanating from the office by passersby.

Ashok Thapar, an eyewitness, said the fire broke out around 1pm. He said that it was a major fire and could have spread to neighbouring offices.

Office in-charge Ashwani Kumar said they had were told about the fire over the phone. “We were closed as it was a Sunday. We are yet to ascertain the loss we have suffered,” he said.

A fire department official said that two fire-tenders were pressed into service. “It took us more than two hours to douse the fire,” he added.
