Talking to media persons here last evening, Tewari said that for the installation of the FM radio station, two acres of land will be required.

He also appealed to the local MLAs and the industrialists to arrange for the land so that the proposal may be processed further.

Tewari further said that the auction of 839 FM Radio Stations in 294 cities of the country will be completed within the next six months and he desired that Ludhiana should soon have an FM Radio Station.

The Minister added that the opening of FM Radio Station in Ludhiana would not only provide information and entertainment to the residents of Ludhiana and the surrounding areas but also create a lot of employment opportunities for the local youth.

Earlier, a delegation of the Hosiery Industries and the Knitwear Club of Ludhiana, honoured Tewari for having facilitated abolition of excise duty on certain items of hosiery, which they said would not only benefit Ludhiana-based hosiery units but all similar units across the entire country.

The Knitwear Club office bearers including Darshan Dawar, Vinod Thapar, Narinder Miglani and Harish Kairpal presented a memorandum to Tewari on the remaining demands of the industry.

Accepting the memorandum, he assured the delegation that the demands raised in the memorandum will be taken up for favourable consideration with the concerned ministry.

Tewari pointed out that due to wrong economic policies of the state government, Punjab lags far behind the other states of the country. Tewari said that only a dynamic leadership can restore the state to the path of progress. (ANI)
