District epidemiologist Dr Anil Verma said two of the patients, who were admitted in Bhagwan Ram Charitable Hospital, were discharged on Monday.

After getting the information of diarrhoea cases, a team of doctors comprising district health officer and district epidemiologist from civil surgeon's office, along with health department staff and teams comprising medical specialist and other staff from Lord Mahavira Civil Hospital visited the area.

The team conducted a door-to-door survey to check for more diarrhoea cases. But no other case was detected.

Dr Verma said the survey of the area would continue till they were assured that there was no threat of diarrhoea in the area.

He said chlorine and ORS packets were distributed to the residents. Besides, those who complained of minor health problems were also checked at camps, which would continue.

On the other hand, the municipal corporation (MC) also geared up to tackle the situation. A health team comprising MC health officer Dr Charanjit Uppal visited the area. Dr Uppal said cleanliness of the area was done. On chlorination of water, Dr Uppal said the water supply department of the MC would manage that.

Causes of diarrhoea

Diarrhoea is a symptom, not a disease. It is defined as passing of frequent loose stools. People get diarrhoea when the faeces move too quickly through the bowels, so that the intestines don't have enough time to pull water from the waste to firm them up. This causes through bacteria that come through contaminated water or over-ripe or cut fruits from the market.

Take care
Maintain hygiene
Boil water before drinking
Increase water intake
Wash hands before taking any meal
Don't eat stale food
Take only fresh fruits
Avoid road-side cut fruits and open food
