Caught gambling at a hotel here on Tuesday night, local BJP leaders Ashwani Behl and Ashwani Tandon have invited the ire of state party president Kamal Sharma, who said the duo would be put under suspension.

Behl is the district convener of the BJP's NGO cell, while Tandon is the mandal president of Kidwai Nagar. Following a tip-off, a police party had raided a hotel in the old city area. More than 12 persons were caught. The police registered a case under sections 13, 3 and 67 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Talking to Hindustan Times, Sharma said, "Such immoral acts will not be tolerated by the party as the BJP is known for its ethical practices. Anybody who tries to malign the party's image will not be spared. I have asked district BJP president Praveen Bansal to give me a detailed report on the incident so that strict action can be initiated."
