Gang behind loots busted, 5 held

The Basti Jodhewal police claim to have busted a gang of miscreants with arrest of five persons from Madhopuri on Sunday.


Police claimed the accused, Sunny Kumar of Janta Colony, Pardeep Kumar of Karamsar Colony, Amit Kumar of Chander Colony, Amit Kumar of New Kuldeep Nagar and Babu Alam of Transport Nagar, used toy pistols to execute loots and snatch valuables.

Police have recovered sharp-edged weapons, 11 mobile phones and five motorcycles, besides toy pistols from their possession.

ACP (east) Satish Malhotra said ASI Kapil Kumar, incharge, Subhash Nagar police post, arrested the accused from a vacant plot at Madhopuri.

He claimed that the accused were drug addicts and took to crime to meet their need for drugs, adding that they had confessed to have executed 25 loots, snatchings and vehicle thefts in the past two months.
