The employees working on deputation or temporary duty with the health department in the state will join the departments of their original posting soon.

The director health, Punjab, issued a circular to all the civil surgeons in the state on July 17 instructing them to send the staff working on deputation or temporary duty back to their respective departments within 10 days.

This circular was well received by those employees who managed to get posting to the place of their choice, it has been learnt.

The transfer of employees is normally done from the headquarters only, but the district heads of the department are also given powers to adjust their staff within their jurisdiction.

At times, some ‘connected’ employees try to get the posting of their choice through deputations or temporary duties. But this also creates staff shortage at the department of their original posting.

Moreover, some employees get posted at a place where they are not needed at all.

With a view to curb this practice, director health Dr Karanjit Singh has ordered the civil surgeons to send all the employees back to their original postings and submit an affidavit in this regard.

The effect of this order would be on staff nurses, nursing sisters, matrons, multi-purpose health workers (male and female), health supervisors (male and female), trained midwives, deputy mass-media officers and block extension educators etc.

Dr Subhash Batta, civil surgeon, Ludhiana, said, “I have received the orders. The employees on deputation or on temporary duty in Ludhiana will be sent back to their original places of posting.”

“This time the health department has to make staff adjustment at different locations as per the need. Therefore, it is necessary that all the employees should be at their original posting,” added Dr Batta.
