Illegal under constructions brought down by MC's building branch

Building branch of the municipal corporation held a demolition drive in different areas of the city on Tuesday in which under construction illegal shops and other unauthorised constructions were demolished.

A team of building branch officials led by zone D assistant town planner (ATP) Rajinder Sharma reached Sunet village and demolished an illegal shop. The building branch was supported by MC police officials and JCBs to demolish the construction.

“An illegal shop was demolished at Sunet village, which was being built in an unauthorised manner,” said Sharma.

The team then reached Shastri Nagar where another illegal shop was demolished near Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.

The team went further and reached Chaar Khamba Chowk in Model Town where owner of a residential building was constructing a shop. “The shutter of the room was demolished. The construction of the hall was also stopped and demolished,” said Sharma.

The team at the end reached Kochhar market where another shutter was brought down.
The drive took nearly two hours. It was after a long time that building branch held a demolition drive in the city.

Two more dengue cases spring up

Two more dengue cases were confirmed in the city on Thursday. One 25-year-old woman from Bhora village, Jalandhar Bypass, and a 30-year-old man from BRS Nagar were tested positive for dengue. Both patients are undergoing treatment at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.
