Insurance agent gangraped in Ludhiana

Three men allegedly gangraped an insurance agent after abducting her from Gill Chowk here on Thursday afternoon. The accused are residents of Sarinh village.

The victim, 24, of Sangrur got a case registered against the accused at the Dehlon police station. Taking swift action, the Dehlon police arrested one of the accused, Gurtej Singh. However, the other two are absconding and one of them is an NRI.

According to the victim's complaint, she had called Gurtej Singh and offered an insurance policy on Wednesday. The accused asked her to meet personally to describe the plan.

She met Gurtej Singh, who was along with two other men, at Gill Chowk in Ludhiana on Thursday. The accused took her in a car to a room beside a Dharam Kanda in Dehlon, where they raped her and threatened her to keep mum over the issue. They fled the spot after committing the crime.

Inspector Satinder Pal Singh, SHO of the Dehlon police station, said the police arrested an accused soon after registration of the case. He said search was on to arrest the rest of the accused.
