The strike by fisheries students of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary College and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) completed a week on Sunday.

Students have maintained that they will not give up their stir until they are employed with the fisheries department of the state.

Geetika Oberoi and Jagdeep Kaur, who are among the protesters said, "It is only us or our parents who are worried about our future. They keep calling us even in the middle of the night, and due to our struggle their nights have become sleepless."

Meanwhile, the university has placed a CCTV camera at the protest site to keep an eye on the students.

Besides, a notice informing the protesters that their degrees will be cancelled if they didn't resume their classes by June 10 has also been put up on the gate.

Two female attendants from the girls' hostel also sit during night hours with the students, and about five cops have also been deployed for their security.
