Liver transplant symposium held at Dayanand Medical College

A liver transplant symposium was organised in Dumra Auditorium of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Friday in collaboration with faculty from Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA. The conference was also accredited by the Punjab Medical Council.

The symposium was inaugurated by chief guest Dr Tejbir Singh, director, research and medical education, Punjab. DMCH managing society secretary Prem Kumar Gupta, principal Dr Daljit Singh, medical superintendent Dr Sandeep Puri and Dr Ashwani Chaudhary. 

Organising secretary Dr PL Gautam, professor of anaesthesia and intensive care, said the symposium was held to keep pace with advances in solid organ transplantation and to fulfill the expectations of post graduate students, teachers and practicing consultants of various medical and surgical specialties.

Co-organising secretaries Dr HRS Girn and Dr Suresh Raghavaiah, hepatobiliary and liver transplant surgeons, informed about the programme highlights, which included lectures on preoperative cardiovascular testing, anaesthesia for liver transplant, pulmonary complications of end state liver disease, post-operative care after liver transplantation, living-related liver transplant, postoperative pain management options for living-related liver donors, anaesthesia for the post liver transplant elective surgery by eminent speakers from India and abroad as well.
