Man arrested with five stolen motorcycles, 2 aides absconding

The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA-2) staff police arrested a man after recovering five stolen motorcycles from his possession on Sunday.

The accused has been identified as Baljinder Singh alias Billa, 35, of Bajda village, while two of his accomplices had been absconding.  Sub-inspector Rajesh Sharma, incharge, CIA staff-2 said the police arrested the accused from Bajda T-point. The accused was crossing through that area on a motorcycle.

When investigated, the police found that the accused had stolen the motorcycle from Jugiana a few days ago. The police claimed during interrogation, the accused confessed that he had stolen four more motorcycles from Rose Garden, Clock Tower and other areas of the city and had dumped them at his house. More recoveries have been expected from the accused, police added.

Following his statement, police recovered the motorcycle from his house. Sharma said the accused was a drug addict and possessed past criminal record. Cases of vehicle lifting have been registered against him at Jodhewal and Division Number 7 police station.

A case has been registered against the accused under section 379 (theft) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code at Meharban police station.

Dengue rampant in citywith three more cases

Three more dengue cases were confirmed in the city on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases in state to 20. Three patients, a 40-year-male from Haibowal Kalan, admitted to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), a 42-year-old female from Laddowal admitted to Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) and a 60-year-old male from Ferozepur, admitted to the DMCH, were tested positive for dengue fever.
