Police have also booked his second wife and his kin in this connection.

The first wife of the accused, Kamaljeet Kaur of Punjab Mata Nagar of Pakhowal road, claimed that she was married to Jaspal in July 2006. She alleged that her husband and in-laws used to harass her for dowry, thus she had lodged a case against them at the Shimlapuri police station in March 2008.

Kamaljeet, who was living separately from her husband for past few months, further alleged that her husband solemnised the second marriage with Taranjit Kaur of Khanpur village few days back.

Police booked Jaspal Singh, his father Amarjit Singh, mother Gurdev Kaur, brother Gurmeet Singh, sister-in-law Jasveer Kaur and other relatives Sharanjit Kaur, Gurjeet Kaur and Raju.

ASI at the Shimlapuri police station Budh Singh said a manhunt was launched to arrest the accused.
