Man held for attempting to rape five-year-old

The Division Number 7 police arrested a labourer for allegedly attempting to rape a five-year-old girl on Tuesday evening.

In his complaint, the victim's grandfather, a native of Bihar, alleged that Rahul Kumar, who lived near his house, took his granddaughter in a room and attempted to rape her. When the girl raised an alarm, residents gathered at the spot and caught hold of the accused and called in the police.

A police team reached the spot and arrested Rahul before booking him under sections 363 (kidnapping) and 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage, etc.) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Man booked for raping ex-wife

A resident of Giaspura has accused her ex-husband of raping her and extorting `6 lakh that was given to her as alimony after their divorce.

The victim, a resident of Giaspura, told the Daba police that she married Pawan Kumar in 2004. However, they divorced in 2007 and she was awarded an alimony of `6 lakh.

She alleged that later, Pawan raped her and with the help of his friend, Ravinder Singh, extorted the money from her.

The Daba police have booked Pawan under sections 376 (rape), 420 (fraud) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
