The scheduled inspection by the municipal corporation to check parking in service lanes on Ferozepur road was postponed on Wednesday by the officials of Zone D.
MC had also postponed a demolition drive in Barewal area in zone D scheduled on Wednesday due to this inspection.

Rajinder Sharma, assistant town planner of zone D said that due to official work at the office, the inspection could not be carried out as per schedule.

The MC had served notices to nine commercial establishments on Ferozepur road asking them not to allow parking in service lanes for their visitors.

Notices were served after directions from Punjab and Harayana high court to remove encroachments from service lanes.

Although all commercial establishments made arrangements to remove parking in service lanes, yet the inspection had to be carried out.
It is to be noted that the building branch of MC had postponed a demolition drive at Barewal area on the pretext that an inspection had to be carried out on Ferozepur road.

The report of the inspection would be submitted to the MC commissioner RK Verma.

However, Rajinder Sharma said that the inspection would take place soon. “Demolition drive at Barewal would also be held on a later date,” Sharma said.
