In its bid to ensure complete realisation of building violation challans, the municipal corporation plans to share the charge of fining violators with private players.

The tenders for the same are likely to be rolled out soon.

MC commissioner RK Verma took the decision following numerous gross violations in assessing of challans by the officials of the building branch.

The decision was taken during a meeting, which was attended by the municipal town planner, assistant town planners and zonal commissioners, on Sunday.

With the building branch not realising the challans, MC was losing out on huge revenue.

Therefore, Verma has decided to give a share of the total challans to a private firm.

The move is likely to bring the much-needed funds for the cash-strapped MC, which has been struggling to gather more funds to meet the ever-growing demands of the city.

New measures to bring in more funds for the MC were also discussed at the meeting.

The building branch of the MC brings in the maximum revenue for the corporation.

However, several complaints against the branch have forced the commissioner to rope in private players to assess the challans.

An official, who was present in the meeting, requesting anonymity, said the commissioner wanted that the building branch should no longer lose out on funds, and rather help in filling the coffers of the MC.

“Tenders would be rolled out soon so that private partners could help in assessing challans,” he said.

The measure is likely to stop the alleged leakage of funds meant to reach the MC, and also ensure that there is no violation of building bye-laws.
