Members of state ministerial services body demand increase in pay scales

Members of State Ministerial Services Association gave a notice to the state government to fulfill their demands otherwise they will stage protests in various districts.


President Sukhwinder Singh said that they have been demanding to increase the pay scales of clerks, stenos, senior assistants, superintendents and administrative officials.

The members are also demanding to recruit new staff for various posts and to fill the posts of clerical cadres directly on a regular basis.

Sukhwinder said that they have been struggling for a longtime but the government has not been listening and also failed to hold a meeting.

He warned that if the government failed to complete their demands till July 7, the members would wear black ribbons during work from July 8-10. He said that the members will stage protest rallies at the deputy commissioners' offices in various districts on July 15 and 16.

Man held for locking up parents in room

Police on Wednesday arrested a man for allegedly locking up his parents in a room. The accused has been identified as Sumesh Anand of Barewal, who runs a garment shop in the Model Town area.
