Now voters can reject candidates by pressing NOTA

For the first time, city voters will be given an option to press 'None of the above' button on electronic voting machines during the elections. The option can be used if a voter doesn't like any of the candidates.


This was disclosed by the deputy commissioner (DC) Rajat Aggarwal in a meeting of the district administration and political parties at Bachat Bhawan here on Thursday.

The DC asked candidates to follow the model code of conduct and the directions of election commission.

Aggarwal said uncompleted nomination forms would be rejected, therefore candidates should fill the forms carefully. Fill in the required affidavits completely, he said, adding that if the affidavit was not filled completely, the nomination will be cancelled.

Voters can complaint about any matter about elections on 18001-800695 or 1950.

Dengue rampant in citywith three more cases

Three more dengue cases were confirmed in the city on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases in state to 20. Three patients, a 40-year-male from Haibowal Kalan, admitted to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), a 42-year-old female from Laddowal admitted to Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) and a 60-year-old male from Ferozepur, admitted to the DMCH, were tested positive for dengue fever.
