The Prime Minister, who is here to attend the Golden jubilee convocation of the university said "Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has contributed enormously to the development of Indian agriculture, right from the early years when we were food deficit" adding that it is only because of the hard work of the progressive farmers of Punjab and other states that made the Green Revolution possible, and our food security.

He further added that PAU now must gear up to help Punjab’s agriculture to meet the challenges of the future, and to help the state to scale new heights.

The challenge ahead is how to maximise farm income while adopting a more sustainable strategy for water use said PM.
