Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested three men and seized 100 grams of heroin from their car at Ladowal here.
Police, on a tip-off, had laid a barricade. On seeing the cops, the youths allegedly turned their car and tried to escape. However, the police team present on the spot and chased them town and arrested them.
Police seized the Mitsubishi Lancer car in which they were carrrying the heroin. Police suspected that the youths might have been involved in a drug racket running in the state.
The accused have been identified as Jasveer Singh (27), a resident if Jalandar; Jyot Singh (25) and Manpreet Singh, both residents of Ludhiana.
Sukhdev Singh, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Ladowal, said the accused had been arrested under section 22-61-85 of the NDPS Act.
He said the youths tried to escape from the net of police, but the cops were able to nab them. “Ludhiana police are trying hard to stop the drug racket. Our efforts bore fruit on Wednesday, after we arrested these youths” said Sukhdev Singh.
