Police raids brothel, six people including two women held

The Daba police raided a brothel and arrested six people, including four women on Friday. The police have registered a case under section 3,4,5 and 6 of immoral trafficking act 1956.


The accused have been identified as Asha Devi of New Amar Nagar, Ramandeep Kaur of Bhola Colony, Kulwinder Kaur of Baliyewal, Meenu of Dhandhra Road, Dharminder of Shahpura village and Jatinder Singh of Deep Avenue of Tarn Taran.

Inspector Ashwani Kumar, SHO, Daba police station said the police raided the brothel operating in Asha Rani's house at New Amar Nagar following a tip-off and arrested the accused in objectionable condition.

Western disturbances delay wheat arrival in 'mandis'

The increased frequency of western disturbances in the state has delayed the arrival of wheat at 'mandis' this season. The harvesting has been delayed by nearly 15 days and as a result only 8,000 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured from 'mandis' of Ludhiana district by the district food and supplies office till now as compared to 8,700 MT wheat during the corresponding period the last season.
