Something has seriously gone wrong with the police commissionerate of Ludhiana. Supposed protectors of law and order are fast turning into offenders.
In the last one month alone, beginning September 8, as many as seven police personnel from the commissionerate have been found indulging in various criminal activities.
The range of crimes allegedly committed by these police personnel is frightening. From rape to murder and from abduction to corruption: you name it, they have it.
Gurdeep Singh Randhawa, president, People Welfare Council, said the indulgence of police personnel in criminal activities was shocking. "They are supposed to protect us. They are custodians of law. They should be setting an example," he said.
Harmohan Singh Sandhu, ADCP (special branch), said, "Law is equal to all. The one who commit crime would be punished according to law of the land. No matter what position he or she holds."
Though Sandhu promised of a strict action against the guilty officials, several of them have been absconding after committing the crimes. Here's a recap of the incidents of the last one month in which police officials from the commissonerate have been involved.
