Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has claimed that its recently launched mobile phone and Facebook applications for accepting electricity-bill payments have been received well by consumers.

PSPCL director (consumers) Surinder Pall said that since the facility's launch, 7,100 consumers across the state had paid electricity bills of more than Rs. 4.14 crore through mobile and Facebook applications. Consumers can make online payments using their credit cards, debit cards and net-banking facility.

He said that more than 6,500 consumers had downloaded the mobile application from Google's play store. On Google, consumers have given the application a rating of 4.3 out of 5.

He said the PSPCL's webpage for e-payments had been visited nearly 14 lakh times in August. "More than 74,670 consumers paid their electricity bills worth Rs. 57 crore through the online e-payment system in August. This month, we expect more than 1 lakh consumers to make online payments," he said.
