Government College for Girls along with local district administration marked the National Voter's Day at their auditorium on Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner Rajat Aggarwal was the chief guest on the occasion, who enlightened the students on the value of vote and inspired the students that other than their rights they should also be aware of their fundamental duties towards the society and the nation.

The event started with a declamation session in which students spoke on the importance of vote followed by fundamental rights and duties. Post this session, a pledge was taken under the leadership of Rajat Aggarwal, which made the students and the staff members promise that they will vote honestly and will not ignore their right to vote.

Later, Aggarwal while addressing the occasion said that it was in the hands of the youth to show the right path to the nation. "Today's so called modern youth has the real power, the spirit, and above all they are flooded with various sources of information. They must have faith in themselves," said Aggarwal.

He further added, "If we want to bring change in our system, we should not think of breaking the laws but should make a point to adopt constructive methods, which can also take us to new heights."

In his concluding note he stressed that the greatest gift a democratic nation, India has given its citizens is the right to choose their leader through vote. He said, "We must utilise our vital right to vote."
