When the trader tried to chase one of the miscreants, he opened fire at him. However, the former had a narrow escape, as the bullet hit a rickshaw.

The victim, Ashok Kundra is a resident of Shastri Nagar. He owns a shop in Shastri Nagar near Model Gram railway station.

In his complaint to the police, Kundra said he was sitting outside his shop under a tree near railway lines, and was collecting cash from retailers that used to purchase eggs from him.

He said he kept collecting the cash in a plastic bucket placed near his chair. Meanwhile, around 11:45 am, two youths appeared and snatched the bucket, before separating and fleeing in different directions.

Kundra said, “I chased one of the accused who was holding the bucket, and ran after him towards Model Gram after crossing the railway lines. Meanwhile, the accused turned around and opened fire at me. Fortunately, the bullet hit the tyre of a rickshaw.”

“An accomplice of the robber was already waiting for him on a motorcycle on which the duo fled after opening fire at me,” he added.

Kundra sounded the police, who reached the spot and initiated investigation. Later, the police realised the area fell under the jurisdiction of railway police station, following which the railway police registered a case against the unidentified accused.

Inspector Manmohan Singh, SHO, Railway police, said, “According to the information provided by the victim, the accused were clean-shaven and aged between 25 and 30.”
