Rocket launchers recovered from canal in Ludhiana

A day before polling in Punjab, the police on Tuesday recovered cache of arms and explosive from a canal near Kaind Canal Bridge here.


The weapons and explosives were bundled in a sack. The Dehlon  Police Station registered a case under Sections 25, 54, 59 of Arms Act and Sections 3, 4, 5 of Explosives Act against unidentified accused.

A diver, Angad Kumar has informed the police that on Monday he found explosives and weapons bundled in a sack as he dived  in the canal. 

The police found 10 rocket launchers, 1 countrymade Bomb, 1 IED Bomb, 1 AK 47 rifle, 6 magazines, 2 stain gun, 2 empty magazines and one shotgun from the sack.

The police suspected that the weapons have come in the containers with scrap from the bay countries. The furnace owner has thrown the weapons and explosive in the canal to refrain harassment.

52-yr-old woman labour stabbed to death in hosiery factory

Some unidentified persons brutally stabbed a woman to death in a hosiery factory in Salem Tabri area on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Jaswinder Kaur, 52, a resident of Mohalla Peeru Banda of Salem Tabri. She worked as a weaver in a hosiery unit in Salem Tabri, and her husband Major Singh Fauji is a bus driver at GMT School, Jalandhar Bypass.
