SAI conducts trials for selection to National Athletics Academy

Trials for selection to the National Athletics Academy were conducted at Sports Authority of India centre, Guru Nanak Dev Stadium, on Tuesday.

Hundreds of athletes turned up from across the state to give trials. The trials were conducted for middle and long distance runners in 3,000 metres, 5,000 metres and 10,000 metres race categories.

With on the spot registration process beginning as early as 7 am in the morning, all athletes were seen putting their best foot forward to secure a place in the academy.

Rakesh Singh, incharge of Sports Authority of India, Ludhiana center, said, “The shortlisted athletes will further be competing in a competition-cum-trial event at Bhopal later this month as part of the process for their final selection in the academy at Bhopal itself.”
