School bus staff sensitised on following rules

 To create awareness about rules and regulations for safe driving and transporting school students among conductors and drivers, a camp was conducted at DAV Public School, Sarabha Nagar Extension, Pakhowal Road, on Thursday.


District transport officer (DTO) Anil Garg, along with his team of doctors and fire fighters, conducted the camp in which 70 drivers and conductors participated.

Garg said, “During the awareness camp conducted under the Safe Vahan Scheme, bus drivers were informed about the Motor Act and the Supreme Court’s directions. A medical camp check up was also organised for drivers. They were also informed about the use of first-aid kits and fire extinguishers.”

ASI Bikramjit Singh, zone incharge, said, “During the camp, the drivers were informed not to use mobiles while driving, not to jump red light and wear uniforms.” School principal Mohan Lal Sharma said, “Students’ safety is the our prime objective, and we regularly supervise school transport system.”

800 cartons of illicit liquor seized from truck

The Sadar Police seized 800 cartons of illicit liquor, worth `20 lakh, from a truck on Sunday. The driver of the truck, which was heading towards Ajitwal in Moga, failed to produce documents for the liquor, following which the police booked him under section 61/1/14 of the Excise Act.
