Two student groups clash; open fire in air

Two student groups of Ludhiana Group of Colleges entered into a clash over appointment of student leader outside the college in Chowkimaan near Jagraon on Friday.Members of one of the groups, Gandhi group also opened fire into the air.


College student Jagraj Singh said the Student Organisation of India (SOI) appointed their member as the president of the college, while the Gandhi group wanted to install their group member as the president, which led to clash.

Inspector Manjinder Singh Dhillon, SHO of the Mullanpur Dakha police station, said, the police reached the spot immediately after receiving the information.

However, the accused managed to escape from the spot. He said the Mullanpur police have registered a case against eight people under Sections 353, 336, 160, 148 and 149 of the IPC. The police have launched a manhunt for the arrest of the accused.

Dengue rampant in citywith three more cases

Three more dengue cases were confirmed in the city on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases in state to 20. Three patients, a 40-year-male from Haibowal Kalan, admitted to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), a 42-year-old female from Laddowal admitted to Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) and a 60-year-old male from Ferozepur, admitted to the DMCH, were tested positive for dengue fever.
