The Marxist Communist Party of India (United) has aired concerns regarding high prices and unemployment in the country, said Kuldip Singh, the party's national secretary, in a press release issued here on Tuesday.

The statement was issued after a three-day national-level meeting of the party at Doraha near here.
During the meeting, the party also discussed widespread corruption in the country and described its prevalence as a failure of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. "The UPA has given a free hand to traders and corporate houses to plunder the country of its resources," said Kuldip Singh in the press release.

The party also condemned the Centre's move to issue an ordinance for nullifying a Supreme Court order on convicted lawmakers, saying that the ordinance, which protects convicted MPs and MLAs, would encourage the criminalisation of politics in the country. During the three-day meeting, the party also observed the 106th birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh on Saturday.
