Woman arrested with smack, cash and jewellery; sent in judicial custody

The Daresi police arrested a woman and recovered 50-gm smack from her possession, which she had filled in 50 different packets of 1-gm each, besides Rs. 1.25 lakh and jewellery worth Rs. 8 lakh on Friday.

The woman, identified as Minakshi Malhotra, 30, of Kakowal Road, told the police that the cash was her collection, which she collected from addicts in exchange of the contraband. About the jewellery, she said she bought it with the money earned by selling drugs.

A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against her at Daresi police station.

The police produced her before the court,from where she has been sent on 14 days' judicial remand. Meanwhile, the woman revealed that he got smack from Billi, Shanky and Raju, all drug peddlers. Following her statement the police have booked the trio as well, who are on the run.

Sub-inspector Sanjeev Kapoor said the police arrested the woman from Daresi area following a tip-off. The police have been investigating about her past criminal record. He said Billi, Shanky and Raju were history sheeters. The police have launched a manhunt to arrest them.
