A day after he was chargesheeted in the Quran desecration case, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Delhi Naresh Yadav appeared in a Malerkotla court on Monday and furnished bail bonds of Rs 40,000.
The case has now been committed to the Sangrur session courts and the trials will begin on October 1.
Yadav, who was chargesheeted on September 18, was also booked under sedition charges. While AAP leaders have labelled it as political vendetta, investigating officer inspector Satnam Singh found that Yadav planned a conspiracy in Delhi to create communal tension between Hindu and Muslims ahead of the assembly polls in Punjab.
Yadav was arrested from Delhi on July 24 and he was granted bail on July 29.
Talking to the media after appearing in the court, Yadav said adding sedition charges in the FIR show that the Badal government was trying to frame the AAP leaders.
“AAP is a party of people with morality. The opposition parties are trying to defame the AAP in the wake of assembly elections in Punjab,” he said.
The Delhi MLA said the newly formed Awaaz-e-Punjab was the B-team of the Alaki Dal and BJP and will not be a threat to the AAP.
