Malti Thapar flays industrial policy

Punjab Pradesh Mahila Congress chief Malti Thapar has written a open letter on industrial policy to deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal challenging his claims to be just "tactics to befool people" and asked him to balance it if he was serious to solve the problems of unemployment and bring rapid industrialisation to the state.

Malti wrote that, "I am writing this open letter to you regarding the new industrial policy announced by you. I am of the opinion that you have failed to study the hard facts and ground realities of Indian economy and effects of globalisation. In the given circumstances of state having non-friendly environment for industry, we will have to tackle two problems namely unemployment, and increase in GDP with utmost care, as Industry is the only hope for all of us."

Opposing the zoning of districts in the policy to allocate facilities, Malti said this policy is only to befool the people of Punjab and is rather suicidal for Punjab`s economy. "It seems that the only criterion in your mind was to help the constituencies of your families and near dears. The only fault of Moga is that no member of chief minister`s family contests from here either for the assembly or Parliament," she said.

She stressed that the latest census figures are very clear that Bathinda, Amritsar, Sangrur, SAS Nagar and Barnala are much ahead in the industrialisation in comparison to Moga.
