Police have arrested a man for allegedly abetting his 55-year-old mother to commit suicide.
The accused, Chetan Kapoor (28), a resident of Gandhi Nagar, cremated his mother after allegedly killing her without informing the police or any relative.
Later, when his maternal uncle came to know about the incident, he filed a complaint against Chetan at the Salem Tabri police station.
Inspector Kewal Krishan, SHO of the Salem Tabri police station, said, “In his complaint, Yamunanagar resident Chanderpal said his sister Madhubala got married with
Om Parkash of Gandhi Nagar in 1981. After Om Parkash's death, their son Chetan took over the hosiery factory and started harassing his mother.”
Chanderpal alleged that the accused had thrashed his sister and had thrown her out of the house. He came to know that his sister had committed suicide on Friday. Instead of informing the police and relatives, Chetan cremated his mother.
Following the complaint, the police registered a case under sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and had arrested Chetan.
Inspector Krishan said the police have apprehended the accused and interrogation was on.
