Man accuses staff of stealing infant

punjab Updated: Sep 23, 2012 22:05 IST

Rajindra Hospital on Sunday witnessed high drama when a migrant labourer accused the staff of stealing his newborn male infant.

Parbhat Kumar said that his wife Swarnima gave birth to triplets but the staff handed over the two girls and not the male infant.

He along with family members and friends also held a protest outside the gynaecology ward of the hospital. He said that the nurses had informed him about the birth of triplets, but later they handed over only two girls.

As the news spread, media converged on the hospital, but Parbhat failed to substantiate his charges.

Dr Manjit Kaur Mohi, head of the gynaecology department, denied the charges and said that the hospital maintains entry of birth immediately after delivery and the register clearly shows that twins were born to Swarnima.

She said that some anti-hospital lobby is creating such controversies to bring bad name to the hospital.
