In a bizarre case, a man has accused his wife of lying to him about her educational qualification. He also accused her of being married already and having a child from the first marriage, besides concealing the truth before marrying him.

In his complaint, Jatinder Sharma, a resident of Madhopuri, told the Jamalpur police that he married Sonia Sharma in 2010.

He alleged that before marriage, Sonia told him that she was a graduate and had never married. But, later he came to know that Sonia and her kin had lied to him, as she was educated only up to Class-10.

He also alleged that Sonia was already married to someone and had a child from the first marriage, but she and her kin hid the matter from her. He came to know the truth when his mother and sister visited his wife’s parental house after marriage.

Following his complaint, the Jamalpur police have registered a case under section 420 (cheating), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 494 (marrying again during lifetime of husband or wife) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Sona, and her kin, Nirmla, Amit Sharma, Sumit Sharma of Tajpur Road.

Inspector Sukhbir Singh said the police had launched a manhunt to arrest the woman.
