Man alleges newborn boy replaced with girl by Jalandhar hospital

The poor functioning of Civil Hospital has once again magnified on Saturday when Dhanraj, a resident of Beant Nagar alleged that his newborn boy was replaced by hospital staff with a baby girl after which, an inquiry was ordered into this incident.

The poor functioning of Civil Hospital has once again magnified on Saturday when Dhanraj, a resident of Beant Nagar alleged that his newborn boy was replaced by hospital staff with a baby girl after which, an inquiry was ordered into this incident.


Dhanraj, who works as a labourer said he came to hospital on September 17 for check-up of his nine-month pregnant wife Pinky.

"Doctors asked me to come on Thursday and my wife was admitted on the same day. On September 20, around 12am, my wife delivered a baby boy. My wife was unconsciousness. When I returned after buying medicine for my wife, I saw a nurse was replacing my boy child with a baby girl and run away from the spot," said Dhanraj.

He added that he tried to find out the nurse who chnaged the baby but failed. "I can identify her if I see her again. I am even ready for the DNA test to reveal truth," Dhanraj said.

He also said he had filed a complaint with the police against hospital in this incident. Dhanraj has five girls in his family. He alreay has informed the hospital authorities about the incident and filed a written complaint with Dr Inderjit Khanna.

"Dhanraj had filed allegation against hospital staff but he failed to mention any name. He said he had asked Dr Sangeeta to make an inquiry into this incident and also wanted to inquire about the staff who were present during his wife's delivery," Dr Khanna said.
