Man arrested for kidnapping minor

A 35-year-old man, who had kidnapped a 9-year-old girl from Mohalla Hargobind Nagar on Sunday, was arrested on Monday.

The division number 7 police arrested the accused and recovered the girl from his possession.

A case under Section 365 (kidnapping) of the IPC has been registered against accused Rameshwar, a quack and a drug addict.

The case was registered following the statement of Ramesh Pandey, a resident of Mohalla Hargobind Nagar, who is a rickshaw puller. In his complaint, Ramesh said his two daughters Komal and Kajal were playing outside the street on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, the accused appeared there and kidnapped Kajal, 9, after gagging her. Komal informed her parents about the incident, following which he lodged a complaint with the police.

ASI Sukhwinder Singh said the police acted swiftly after registering the case and initiated investigation. During the investigation, the police have got to know that Rameshwar has kidnapped the girl. The police had arrested the accused from railway station late on Sunday. The accused was trying to flee from the city.

The ASI said the police have come to know that the accused used to try to get friendly with the girl and give her some money often. The police have been interrogating the accused to know the reason behind the kidnapping.
