Man arrested with two stolen cars

Basti Jodhewal police arrested a vehicle lifter after recovering two cars from his possession on Thursday. The police said the accused had stolen those cars from different areas of city.

The accused has been identified as Daljit Singh alias Jeeti (26), a resident of Moti Bagh Colony, Tibba Road. The police produced the accused before the court on Friday. The court remanded him to one-day police custody.

Inspector Harwinder Singh, station house officer (SHO) at Basti Jodhewal police station, said, “The police arrested the accused from Kailash Nagar Road following a tip off. The accused was driving a Maruti Alto car. The police stopped him and questioned. The accused was failed to produce documents of the car. When the police posed harsh, the accused admitted that he had stolen the car, which he was driving.”

Following his statement, the police recovered another car from a vacant plot near Tibba Road. The accused had stolen the car from Basti Jodhewal area on April 16. A case has been registered in this context at Basti Jodhewal police station following the statement of car owner Madan Lal of New Bhagwan Nagar.

The SHO said more important information was expected to be revealed from the accused during questioning.
