Man booked for abducting minor girl on pretext of marriage

The Dehlon police have booked a resident of Majri village for allegedly a abducting a 17-year-old girl on the pretext of marriage. The accused has been identified as Gurjit Singh of Majri.

The Dehlon police have booked a resident of Majri village for allegedly a abducting a 17-year-old girl on the pretext of marriage.

The accused has been identified as Gurjit Singh of Majri.

The victim, a football player, is a student of BA first year at a private college in Phagwara.

She is a resident of Buthari village near Dehlon, and had come home for vacations on August 28.

In his complaint, her father, Sikander Singh, alleged that his daughter went missing on August 29. Later, he came to know that Gurjit had abducted his daughter on the pretext of marriage.

He alleged that Gurjit used to call his daughter, and since she disappeared, her mobile phone had been switched off.

Sub-inspector Swarn Singh at Dehlon police station, said a case under section 363 (kidnapping) and 366A (procreation of minor girl) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused. The police have initiated efforts to trace the accused and rescue the victim.
