Mulepur police on Friday booked a Chaleri village resident for murdering his wife and relative after finding them in a compromising position at his house. The deceased woman's cousin Labh Singh complained to the police that Jaspal Singh had murdered his sister and Baldev Singh, Jaspal's cousin.

Labh said he and his brother Monga had gone to Jaspal's residence on Thursday, and Baldev, a resident of Chatterpura village, had also reached the house on the same night.

A few hours later, Labh and his brother woke up to loud noises, and found Jaspal hitting the victims with a stick. After the victims died, Jaspal fled the spot. Labh informed the police. The bodies were sent to civil hospital for post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, Labh has alleged that his cousin had been living at her parents' house for a long time since Jaspal was an addict and used to beat her. She had, however, compromised and returned to the house two days ago, after the panchayat intervened. The couple had four children, including two girls.

On the other hand, Jaspal's relatives have alleged that the victim was not of a good character and Baldev often visited the house.

The police have registered a case against Jaspal under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code, and are conducting raids to nab him.
