Man booked for killing wife

The Amritsar city police have booked a man, identified as Jagjit Singh alias Jaggi of Sarai Amanat Khan, on charges of murdering his wife Harjeet Kaur.

Jagjit Singh and his accomplice Malkit Singh alias Bau, a resident of Tarsikka, have been charged under sections 302, 201, and 34of IPC at Chheharta police station.

The case has been registered on the complaint of Jagir Singh, the father of the deceased woman, a resident of Sultanwind Road.

The complainant claimed that his daughter was married to Jagjit Singh nine years ago and the accused, who allegedly had illicit relations with another woman, used to beat and harass her.

The complainant alleged that he went to see his daughter on a few occasions, but did not find her at home. He suspected that the accused have killed her.

Inspector Sukhwinder Singh, SHO, Chheharta police station, said that the accused have been booked under sections 302, 201, and 34 IPC. "Efforts are being made to arrest them. The matter is being investigated," he said.
